Common problems and solutions in zipper usage

Heavy fabric over 12 oz 
Using #3 zipper leads to 
missing teeth or zipper damage

For heavy fabrics, adopt zippers of size #5 and above; 
Use #3 zippers for light fabrics

Non-self-locking slider used on overcoat placket, 
slider falling off occurs

For overcoat plackets, use sliders equipped with self-lock device

PIN LOCK slider applied on pockets, 
locking part may easily cut hands

Avoid PIN LOCK on pockets; use KA AUTO LOCK or KF (NONLOCK)

After washing treatment, zipper discoloration or corrosion. 
Chemicals from washing process weaken zipper tape

Adopt YG ZIPPER with strong resistance to washing treatment

Fully rinse to neutral state to prevent residual acid after washing

Fabric weakening may occur depending on process & chemical types. 
Lab test is mandatory prior to mass washing treatment

KA SLIDER damaged after washing treatment

If washing with zipper open, impurities enter slider and cause damage. 
Always wash garments with zippers fully closed

Discoloration: Metal fastener teeth 
(oxidized white brass, brass, antique silver, black nickel) turn black, 
and stained teeth contaminate fabrics

Copper alloy turns black once oxidized. 
Do not fully seal polybags, keep ventilation. 
Prevent moisture accumulation inside polybags (moisture-proof paper & desiccants recommended). 
Select specially treated zippers with excellent anti-discoloration performance

Dye Migration: Dyes from zippers react with 
plasticizers, adhesives, oil agents contained in 
polyethylene, synthetic leather and fabric resin coating, 
resulting in dye migration

Separate finished goods with paper sheets (place paper between zipper and fabric during ironing), 
properly control storage environment

Color Transfer: When brown or dark-colored zippers are used, 
contamination appears at contact areas between fabric and zipper

Residual acid or oxidizing agents from fabric dyeing process trigger chemical reactions, 
causing contamination on contact areas of zipper and fabric

Use fully rinsed fabrics and raw materials

Paraffin melts under heat during post-ironing process, 
contaminating fabrics

Metal zipper teeth are treated with paraffin for smooth sliding

Place paper or cloth padding on areas directly contacting zippers before ironing

Shape-setting process: Zipper discoloration or corrosion 
after VP or SSP forming treatment

For products requiring shape forming, adopt highly corrosion-resistant zippers. 
Conduct pre-test before VP or SSP processing

Zipper teeth melting caused by direct ironing without cloth padding

Heat resistance temperature: Plastic resin zipper: 130℃ 
Nylon double bone zipper: 150℃ 
Invisible zipper: 160℃

Confirm heat resistance temperature first, then iron with cloth padding
